City of Pickering Meets PAAB's Expansion Needs

The Pharmaceutical Advertising Advisory Board (PAAB) joins the growing list of companies that are choosing to remain within the City of Pickering as they expand. Its relocation to Pickering Parkway offers countless benefits, including a prestigious office address and access to numerous attributes, including the new pedestrian bridge that spans Hwy. 401, PAAB Commissioner Ray Chepesiuk reports.

The PAAB is currently located at 375 Kingston Rd. and is retrofitting a floor in the 8-storey office tower at 1305 Pickering Parkway. It expects to move into the 8,000-square-foot office space in early December. The City of Pickering was pleased to support its aggressive timeline to complete its expansion and was able to fast track its renovation permit within 48 hours of its application.

“The City was fantastic in expediting our permits and everything has gone smoothly. We outgrew our existing facilities and are looking forward to moving into our new location, which will allow us to expand our team,” says Mr. Chepesiuk.

The tower is located in the heart of Downtown Pickering. Along with a twin 8-storey tower at 1315 Pickering Parkway, it’s close to many amenities, including the fully-enclosed pedestrian bridge that spans Hwy. 401 and links the Pickering GO station with Pickering Town Centre’s south lands on Pickering Parkway. The downtown is also home to the Corporation of The City of Pickering, the award-winning Pickering Recreation Complex and the Pickering Public Library’s Central Branch.

About half of PAAB’s employees reside in Durham Region. Mr. Chepesiuk expects the pedestrian bridge will benefit both employees who reside in downtown Toronto, along with some of its clients and agencies, who may choose to use the GO train.

The PAAB is an independent review agency that has served Canadian patients through its Code of Advertising Acceptance since 1976. Its primary role is to ensure healthcare product communication for prescription, non-prescription, biological and natural health products is accurate, balanced and evidence-based, and reflects current and best practice.

The PAAB also monitors trends in health product advertising and promotion, and adjusts its code and practices as required to fulfill its mandate. To learn more, visit www.paab.ca. This will be PAAB’s third move within the City of Pickering since it was established.

The PAAB follows in the footsteps of Aecon, Black & McDonald, Derlea Foods, Long & McQuade, McGill Architectural and Purdue Pharma – all of which have chosen to remain in Pickering as they expand. The City of Pickering’s Economic Development Office is pleased that these companies chose to remain here and is happy to work with all members of the business community as they expand.
